CSF and Homefield Apparel Raise Over $7,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank

Charlotte, North Carolina (September 9, 2020) – The Charlotte Sports Foundation (CSF) and Homefield Apparel teamed up to raise over $7,000 for charity, it was announced last night on ESPN Radio’s hit Chiney & Golic Jr. show.

In a partnership to celebrate Duke’s Mayonnaise as the new title sponsor of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, CSF and Homefield Apparel collaborated to produce limited edition “Mayo Ambassador” t-shirts for sale to the public, with all proceeds going to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, N.C.

A total of $7,005 was raised over a three-week period. That will result in over 49,000 pounds of food that Second Harvest Food Bank will be able to provide the Charlotte community.

“We are extremely proud to have teamed up with Homefield Apparel to make this kind of impact in our community,” said Danny Morrison, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. “The public excitement surrounding Duke’s Mayonnaise and the Duke’s Mayo Bowl has grown exponentially over the past several months. That buzz has now resulted in tangible resources that will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank and our Charlotte community. We are thankful for all of our Mayo Ambassadors and their enthusiastic support of Duke’s Mayo and college football.”

About the Charlotte Sports Foundation

The mission of the Charlotte Sports Foundation (CSF), a 501(c)(3), is to provide leadership for sports-based initiatives that result in a positive impact on the economy and quality of life in the Charlotte region. CSF was created in the spring of 2013 as a combined entity of Charlotte’s two primary sports development groups, Charlotte Collegiate Football and the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission. Its origins can be traced to the vision of Charlotte civic leaders after the very successful hosting of the 1994 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

The Foundation also provides support for recruitment and operation of other local sporting events, and spearheads Charlotte’s continued growth as a preferred host for premier national and regional sporting events. CSF’s future regular season football games include East Carolina University vs. Appalachian State University and the University of Georgia vs. Clemson University (2021), and the University of North Carolina vs. the University of South Carolina (2023).

The Board of Directors that guides the Charlotte Sports Foundation boasts a dynamic roster of top Charlotte civic and business leaders. Please visit www.charlottesports.org for more information.
