The Charlotte Business Journal recently named Danny Morrison, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, its Business Person of the year for the organization’s “achievements, and his ability to forge partnerships with a range of corporate and government executives and entities.”

When asked about the keys to success Morrison shared the following:

“It takes everybody working together to make these things happen. If you don’t have high-quality venues — credit to public-private partnerships that have not only built fabulous facilities, but they’ve also been kept current. You have to have great venues.

You’ve got to be blessed with infrastructure and a board that is very supportive and that is not risk averse. We’ve had great continuity on our board, and we’ve brought in new people, so we get new ideas. Which has enabled us to be able to go after and start some new events.

Our intent is to do it first class and Masters-like: It’s clean, represents Charlotte in a wonderful way and creates value for our partners.”
