A Major Championship for a Major City

In August of 2017, the focus of the sports world will once again turn to the city of Charlotte as the 99th edition of the PGA Championship is contested at historic Quail Hollow Club. The tournament will be the first Major Championship hosted in Charlotte, and just the third PGA Championship held in the state of North Carolina. Having played host to professional tour events in four of the last five decades, Quail Hollow has received praise from many as one of the fairest tests of golf, and is prepared to challenge what is perennially the strongest field assembled each year. In 15 months’ time the golf world’s focus will turn to Charlotte and the Quail Hollow Club, as another deserving champion hoists the Wanamaker Trophy and has their name etched into history, alongside the likes of Sarazen, Hogan, Nicklaus, and Woods. The PGA of America, the largest working sports organization in the world with over 27,000 men and women members, operates the PGA Championship as their annual flagship event. The Association’s mission of serving their members and growing the game of golf is on display at the major events the PGA of America runs, including the Ryder Cup, the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
